Natural Pain Relief Balm

Product Description

Kunzea Balm (AUST L 291481) has a rich consistency that soothes, moisturises and protects your skin. This is the first product we recommend for muscular aches and pains, dry skin and skin inflammatory conditions such as eczema.

It may also help relieve the pain associated with arthritis, joint swelling, and joint inflammation, however, we generally recommend our Kunzea Cream for more serious chronic joint conditions as it is more efficient at penetrating through the skin to the source of the pain.

Don’t limit yourself there, our Kunzea Balm is a family favourite because of its versatility. It can be used for everything from sunspots to insect bites to lip balm – anything you need really, all in the one tub.

All Zea Relief products are formulated with naturally-derived, skin-friendly ingredients.

Active Ingredients

Australian Kunzea ambigua essential oil (50mg/g)

Australian Kunzea Oil is derived from the Kunzea ambigua plant that flourishes in the pristine wilderness of North-East Tasmania. It has a naturally clean, fresh and invigorating aroma.

It is the organic composition of Kunzea Oil that makes it so unique. A high content of several important C15 compounds gives Kunzea its special therapeutic uses and benefits.

Australian Kunzea Oil is the key active ingredient in Kunzea Balm (AUST L 291 481). By adding it to a beeswax base, it is absorbed very slowly by the skin without blocking pores or leaving a greasy after feel. This deliberately prolonged penetration helps to target areas of inflammation above and below the surface of the skin. It is there that the active components of the oil trigger the body’s own healing process to relax the muscles, reduce the inflammation and ease the pain.

Evening primrose oil (75mg/g)

Evening primrose oil is a beautiful ingredient that has a long list of health benefits. It is particularly beneficial for anyone struggling with sensitive skin conditions or hormonal imbalances.

It is highly concentrated with fatty acids and has incredible anti-inflammatory properties for improving skin conditions. It combines very well with Kunzea Oil and gives our Kunzea Balm various added benefits.

Rosehip oil (10mg/g)

For an oil so delicate in nature, Rosehip oil is extremely powerful and capable of adding strength and resiliency to your skin. We have added it to our Kunzea Balm to enhance its rich consistency and help heal your skin inside out. Rich in fatty acids, antioxidants, vitamins A, B, C, and E, the rosehip oil will help to soothe and heal the most dehydrated and dry skin.

Other Ingredients

Organic Beeswax
Beeswax provides a protection against irritants while still allowing the skin to breathe. It offers anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and anti-viral benefits making it helpful in treating skin irritation. Forming a minute film over the skin, beeswax can also aid in the calming of insect bites, stings, rashes and stressed skin.

Grapeseed oil
Grapeseed is a by-product of winemaking and ensures that all portions of the fruit are used. It is an easily absorbed, gentle oil that is light on the skin. It has many benefits for balancing problematic skin, and healing blemishes and scars.

Olive oil
For centuries, olive oil has been used topically to relieve everyday skin ailments. It is packed with antioxidants and vitamins that give it anti-inflammatory and antibacterial benefits. Olive oil helps to hydrate the skin by building the skin’s moisture barrier to prevent loss of moisture.

Jojoba oil
The structure of jojoba oil is very similar to the natural oils of our skin. This means it not only helps to moisturise the skin but also absorbs faster than other oils. Jojoba oil is full of nutrients and antioxidants, and also helps reduce inflammation, manage acne breakouts, soothe sunburn, reduce fine lines, and more.

What’s Australian Kunzea Oil?

Australian Kunzea is a natural treasure when it comes to essential oils. It could potentially be the greatest essential oil Australia has ever produced. It is derived from the terminal branches of the kunzea ambigua plant. Kunzea ambigua is part of the Myrtaceae family and has been discovered to have numerous therapeutic benefits.

Kunzea ambigua, also known as “White Cloud”, “Tasmanian Kunzea” and “Tick Bush”, is a tall shrub, up to three metres in height, with abundant white flowers and is native to the cooler coastal areas of Australia (Southern New South Wales, Victoria and Tasmania). It grows profusely in the wild, especially in Tasmania and the Bass Strait islands.

What is Kunzea Essential Oil used for?

Over the last 30 years, a good number of studies have reported therapeutic uses of Kunzea essential oil when used to help a variety of common ailments. This has led to Kunzea oil having been listed by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) for the following therapeutic claims:

  1. Temporary relief of the pain of arthritis
  2. Relief of the symptoms of influenza/flu
  3. Relief of muscular aches and pains
  4. Helps relieve nervous tension, stress and mild anxiety
  5. Temporary relief of the pain of rheumatism

What makes Kunzea Oil unique?

While many of us are familiar with common essential oils such as Lavender, Eucalyptus, and Lemon, Australia Kunzea is one native essential oil that is often forgotten and its powerful properties are only known by very few people.

It is the organic composition of Australian Kunzea that makes it so unique. It has a high content of five important sesquiterpene compounds, with a typical analysis of the major components as follows:

  • Alpha-pinene 52%
  • 1,8 cineole 12%
  • Alpha-terpineol 2%
  • Bicyclogermacrene 4.4%
  • Globulol 7.6%
  • Viridiflorol 6.8%

Most active ingredients in pain relief products simply numb the pain. Australian Kunzea is different because it works to relax the muscle and reduce inflammation to alleviate pain, while also working to increase blood flow to calm painful nerve endings. The key components in Australian Kunzea target the source of the pain, by deeply penetrating layers of skin to help promote the body’s own healing process.

Benefits of Kunzea Oil

Besides its various therapeutic uses, this refreshing and aromatic oil has a number of key benefits over alternative essential oils. Some Kunzea Oil benefits include:

  1. Safe and suitable for most skin types
  2. Organically grown (without certification) in Tasmania
  3. Helps decrease inflammation and pain
  4. Aromatically uplifting and invigorating
